Assessment Center: an organisational unit that administers interviews.
Appointment Unit: an organisational unit that schedules appointments for potential participants. It also receives nominative data such as a completed Consent Form.

Data Collection Stage: a step within an interview during which data from a participant is collected.
Data Coordinating Center: an organisational unit that receives interview data.
DCC: see Data Coordinating Center.
Enrollment ID: An unique alphanumeric identifier assigned to participants by the appointment unit. This ID is used to recontact participants and is associated with nominative information such as names and address.
Interview: a set of data collection stages that a participant goes through.
Jade: an Onyx Module for capturing physical measurements.
Marble: an Onyx Module for administrating a consent form.
Mica: an Onyx Module that contributes a single stage responsible for concluding interviews.
Onyx Module: a configurable software component that contributes stages to an interview. Each stage is contributed by one module. A module can contribute any number of stage. See Jade, Marble, Mica, Quartz and Ruby.
Participant: a person that participates in the study.
Participant ID: An unique alphanumeric identifier assigned to participants by the assessment centers. This ID is used to track the participant during his interview.
Quartz: an Onyx Module for administrating questionnaires (CAPI).
Ruby: an Onyx Module for tracking the barcode of samples collected from a participant.
